L & O Marine, Inc. - The Tank Barge Specialists

L & O Marine, Inc.

L & O Marine, Inc. was founded in April of 1996  Jim Orr bought out his partner in October of 2005.  Max Orr joined the company in 2004 to assist with the buyout and transition.  Currently, Jim Orr handles most of the operational chores, while Max concentrates on the financial and regulatory issues.  Our main office is in Kenner LA and we have warehouse space at another other locations.

The company basically is a liquid cargo transportation company.  While the company has concentrated on moving “Non-regulated cargo” we have the capability to move virtually any liquid cargo.  The non-regulated cargos that we primarily transport are: oilfield drilling fluids (Calcium Chloride, Calcium Bromide and Zink Bromide), oilfield exploration and production wastes, liquid fertilizers (UAN, Ammonium Thiosulfate, etc.), petrochemical manufacturing byproducts, various wastewater cargos, molasses and other cargos that fall into this category.

We have the expertise to move cargos classified by the USCG as Sub-chapter D or Subchapter O; however, we must obtain suitable equipment through our extensive network of associates.

Jim Orr has been in the liquid transportation business the owner of a Tankerman Service for 15 years. He was also a NAMS Certified Marine Surveyor that specialized in tank barges and liquid cargo.  His experience also includes being employed as a Marine Superintendent for a major oilfield chemical company with budgetary and management responsibility for a fleet of tank barges including: their repair and maintenance, capital procurement and replacement projects, and the logistics of the barges and cargo.
